A Wonderful Visit

My momma came and saw me this past weekend! It was so good to see her and show her the NW! We had full days and enjoyed the time that we were able to spend together.

Friday we made a trip up to Washington, since she had never been. We got out in a random neighborhood to take a picture. A man asked us if we were having car trouble! haha

After our short stop in Washington we went to Multnomah Falls. It was a beautiful sunny day and the falls looked gorgeous!

She was also amazed by the beauty of the Columbia River Gorge. It was so fun to show her all of the fun things around Portland. Next time she comes we are hopefully going to be able to hike Multnomah Falls and get the full affect!

After Multnomah falls we went shopping! I feel like I haven't been shopping in so long, so it was very nice! I was able to find quite a few shirts that are juniors, but will work for maternity tops for me! I was glad that we were able to find cute ones because most of the maternity shirts just make me feel fat and ugly. She couldn't get over how big my tummy was and the fact that I haven't really gained weight anywhere else. That made me feel good! This is one of the cute finds and my huge tummy!

On Saturday we went to the Cannon Beach on the Oregon Coast. Unfortunately the weather was not very nice to us. It was cloudy and rainy the whole time that we were there. It was still fun for her to see it and she even dipped her toes in the ocean! Brave soul! We walked around "downtown" and looked in some cool souvenir shops.

It was so fun to have her here! I can't wait until she comes again for several reasons. Next time she comes will be because she will have a granddaughter! We can't wait!

A Historic Milestone

Today is a significant day in the field of dentistry. I had my very first patient! Granted, I only cleaned his teeth, but still, it's a big milestone for me. It was pretty surreal working on a real patient and unsupervised for the most part to boot. This may not seem like a big deal to anyone else, but I finally felt like a dentist. It's strange that in a little over 3 years, they'll call me "doctor." I hardly feel qualified to have anyone call me "mister." I have so much to learn in those 3 short years.

Conference Weekend at the Coast

For conference weekend we rented a house on the Oregon Coast in Rockaway Beach. It was gorgeous weather and we had an amazing view of the ocean from the house! Tyler and I were only able to go up for the day on Saturday because of our job. However, it was still tons of fun! We left at 7 am, hung out for the day, and left to go back home at about 11 at night. It was a long, but super fun day! We watched the morning session of General Conference while we ate breakfast. Between the morning and afternoon sessions of conference we went down to the beach to play for a little bit. It was sunny, warm, and not very windy. Three things that never happen at the Oregon Coast. We were very lucky. After we watched the afternoon session the girls sat on the deck and did pedicures while the boys watched basketball. The non-pregnant girls were nice enough to give pedicures to us pregnant women that cannot reach our own toes. Thanks girls! The boys left for priesthood session while the girls prepared the veggies for our kabobs. They were delicious! Thanks to Willie for manning the grill for the night! Such a blast!

Boys before priesthood session! So handsome!

Little Spencer before he decided to eat the sand.

All girl photo! Lovely ladies!!

Pedicure time! So cute!

Recent Happenings

Life has been throwing some curve balls at us lately. I'm sure it's all part of Heavenly Father's plan and I just keep reminding myself of that. A couple weeks ago I had a Dr.s appointment and it was the routine glucose screening time. Well... the first test did not go so well, so I had to go back and do a 3 hour glucose screening test. They gave me some glucola to drink (orange this time! so much better than lime). And then proceeded to draw my blood every hour for the next 3 hours. I wasn't too worried as many people have this test. Wednesday morning I get a call from my nurse and she informs me that I failed my test and the diabetes education center would be calling me to set up an appointment. I have gestational diabetes. If you would like to know what that is go here. I haven't decided yet how I really feel about it. Of course I'm not thrilled with the idea, but I don't know how bad it is going to be. Monday I am attending an information class about it. I am anxious about that. From the first test I also found out that I am anemic, so I need to take some iron supplements that my doctor has prescribed (not a big deal).

Thursday I had a meeting with our boss and he told me that we were being let go. Now, this was not a total surprise as we had a meeting with him about a month ago about our job performance. Things were really tough, stressful, and not working out super well. It's basically a huge workload for one person. So, our last day of work is April 9th and we will get free rent through the end of April. We are now looking for a 2 bedroom apartment and a new job! I am kind of relieved about the whole thing. I really did not enjoy this job and thought many times that I would be so much happier without it. Besides the financial side of things I think it really is a blessing. But I know we will be okay financially, so it really is a blessing. Also, it would have just gotten harder to handle once our baby girl is here!

When Tyler and I are much older I am sure this will be one of those times that we will look back on and be grateful that we had to go through it, but never wish it to happen again. He has been such a support to me through these hard times and I am so grateful for that. He's the best!

Today Tyler finishes his winter term of dental school! Finals will be over and it will be the start of Spring Break for him! Unfortunately we are not able to go anywhere because of our job, but it will be nice for him to have a break from school, go golfing, and relax around here.

Also, I am continuing to get huge! I need to take an updated picture. I feel like I have doubled in size since the last picture, just 3 weeks ago. Yikes!

26 Weeks

I am starting to get more uncomfortable as the time is getting nearer. No longer can I bend over without feeling a bit of pain, I am having trouble sleeping through the night, and my jeans will not button... oh the joys of being pregnant! I know that I don't even look that big, but I feel pretty huge!

Little Addelyn is still as active as ever! It's so fun to feel her move. Tyler always asks me if she is moving, and I tell him he should ask me if she isn't moving because that's more rare! Only 14 more weeks!!! I can't wait!

What's in a Name?

Last night Tyler and I officially decided on the name for our little girl! Let's just hope we don't have any surprises when she's born where we will have to change the name. :) The name is Addelyn Nicole Bendixsen (named after her mommy). I know I mentioned this earlier, but Tyler has agreed, so it's for real! As long as she looks like she could be an Addelyn when she's born we are planning on sticking with it. We will call her Addy for short! We are so excited for her to be born... I wish it was closer!

Jenna and Joe's Visit and Trip to the Zoo!

My sister, Jenna, and her new fiance, Joe, came to visit me and Tyler on Monday! It was so good to see her! The last time we saw them was at our wedding, a year ago. Tyler and I have been wanting to go to the Oregon Zoo and thought it would be a lot of fun with them! We were right! There were so many animals to look at and fun things to do! We also got Elephant Ears to eat... they were delicious and extremely messy! We took lots of pictures because there was so much to see... Joe does get the award for most pictures taken!

Jenna and me in and eagle's nest!

Jenna and me riding some wooden sheep!

Tyler calling the goats! So glad Joe got a picture of this!

We really enjoyed watching the Polar Bears because they were actually out playing! There was one that was so entertained by a bucket. He would chase it in the water and put it on his head! So cute! We also enjoyed watching the elephants. Baby Samudra was born at the zoo in August. She would follow her mom around and they would both scoop up trunk loads of sawdust and spray it over their backs! Tyler was very fascinated by this.

After the zoo we relaxed at our apartment for a bit and then ended the night with dinner at Red Robin... yum! It was great to have them visit us and sad to see them go!

Our One Year Anniversary!

Monday, the 16th, was our one year wedding anniversary! It's so crazy to think that we have already been married for a year! The time has flown by! We have so many great memories just from this past year and will have so many more to come in the future! Tyler got me a garden bouquet for our anniversary! I was so impressed that he got me two different sets of flowers even though it was so close to Valentine's Day. He's so good to me!

We decided to combine our Anniversary/Valentine's dinner into one so we could go somewhere nice. Tyler also managed to find a card that was both Valentine's and Anniversary. I do have to give him props for that! I told him it's such a guy card!

I am so lucky to have married Tyler. He treats me so well and is such a great husband! He is going to make an amazing father as well! He already plays with her by poking her, talking to her, watching her kick, and feeling her kick! I love you babe!

Day of Love

Tyler was so good to me for Valentine's Day this year! He bought me a beautiful bouquet of pink and red roses! They smell so good and are really just gorgeous!

The picture doesn't do them justice, but it's a picture.

Tyler made dinner reservations for us earlier in the week and kept it a surprise as to where we were going until he needed help getting there! ;) We went to Beach's in Vancouver, WA. It's a really good sea food restaurant right on the Columbia River! It was nice to have a nice dinner out and enjoy time together.

Us at the restaurant... again not a very good picture.

He's so great! I love him so much!

Tummy Picture

I have been asked by a few to post a picture of my growing belly. It has changed quite a bit in these past couple of weeks! No longer does the size come and go with eating... it is here to stay!

On Saturday Tyler and I went shopping for some maternity clothes. My normal clothes are just getting too tight! I got a pair of pants, a skirt, and a dress. I have not yet started wearing them because I want to wear my normal clothes for as long as possible! We'll see how long that lasts though. :)
